Five Thrillers:

Se7en:

Plot: Se7en is a movie starring Brad Pitt and Morgan freeman, as two detectives trying to find a serial killer who kills his victims linked to the seven deadly sins.

Type of thriller: Crime Thriller.

Acting: Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, and Kevin Spacey are the main characters. All their performances are extremely convincing. Brad Pitt's consistent character leads perfectly the the dramatic end of the film. Kevin Spacey plays the villain and his calm exterior throughout the film gives the creepiness that makes a good villain.

Lighting: The lighting is used a lot during the movie to represent the different sins.

Dim lighting is used for gluttony, as it is the first death so it's quite shocking, and this sets the dark theme for the rest of the film.

Greed is shown with bright natural lighting. This shows clarity, as by this point in the film the detectives are starting to understand the method of the villain. As are the people who watch this film.

Sloth is represented with yellow lighting, this shows the laziness and lack of care that the house is in because of sloth. As the yellow lighting makes things look aged, and unkempt.

Lust is shown with red lighting, which is usually a colour representing love or lust. This is an known representation which leads the viewers into relating to the detectives as they can identify the colour with the sin.

For Pride, the lighting is white, and the whole room is very white which shows purity which could represent the woman's beauty who was killed in this scene.

Twisted Horror Movies

The ticking noise is initially diegetic, as the audience see's it come from a metronome. Yet then the scene's change and the ticking still commences, making it non-diegetic. Also there is a gunshot and a scream which is non diegetic.

Sound: The start of the trailer start's off silence, which reflects the silence in space. Then a sudden loud noise of the space shuttle breaking happens, which shocks the audience and makes them interested. There is no music until the end of the trailer, as the earlier sound is dialogue to give an idea of the plot. As its Ryan Stone yelling that she's stuck out in space, and a voice telling her what to do. Then music begins and it has a lot off bass in it which creates tension.
